Sustainable biogas production

A handbook for organic farmers

Published: 26/02/2014

The SUSTAINGAS handbook gives an overview of concepts, farmers' perspectives and best practice examples for sustainable biogas production on organic farms. Together with project partners, Ecofys explored the agronomic and economic dimensions of biogas in organic farming. The handbook explains what steps to take for the biogas plant to benefit the environment and provides decision support, taking into account different biomass sources, plant sizes and ownership models.

SUSTAINGAS is a project in the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme of the European Union. Next to the English version, the handbook is available for download in six more languages at: sustaingas.eu
