Offshore Wind Energy Introductory Manual

Published: 12/12/2012

Ecofys set up a training programme called “Accelerate the offshore wind energy capacity in China” which has been funded by FCO Global Prosperity Fund since 2011. The programme aims to bring lessons learnt from over ten years of offshore wind projects in the UK and Europe to China. Between 2011 and 2012, in cooperation with North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) and University of Strathclyde, this training programme attracted hundreds of participants from well-known project developers, turbine manufactures, design institutes and colleges and universities in China.

This manual captures the resulting project of this training programme. Based on the experience from the realisation of offshore wind projects in the UK and other European countries, it contains 12 chapters covering the whole lifecycle of offshore wind projects from regulatory environment and early site selection, to project design, realisation and finally operation. The Chinese report was launched on 16 November 2012 during the China Wind Power 2012 event.
