CCS Roadmap, Economic Value of CCS, CO2 Pipelines

Published: 08/01/2015

The 12th Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies Conference (GHGT) took place in Austin, Texas in October 2014 and familiarised experts from all over the world with the state of play in carbon capture and storage (CCS). Ecofys contributed to GHGT-12 with three publications:

The first paper discusses how the CATO CCS research community has established an implementation plan for CCS in the Netherlands. The plan comprises 26 actions which need to be implemented within the next ten years.

The second paper explores the economic value that CCS research, development and deployment (RD&D) could bring to the Netherlands. The focus is on the innovations in CCS technologies or services to understand and estimate the cost savings that can be achieved.  Also studied is the potential competitive advantage that could be created by investing in RD&D to yield economic benefits in the form of turnover, added value and employment.

The third paper provides valuable experience and lessons learned from CO2 pipeline projects. A comprehensive set of information has been collected, evaluated and made accessible with the aim to benefit the development of future CO2 pipelines.
