Climate Action Tracker Mexico Country Report

Published: 03/05/2012

Mexico has made some of the most advanced efforts in the developing world to tackle climate change.  The country has recently shown its strong commitment with passing a climate change law, but at the same time Mexico still has a long way to go to achieve its emissions reduction targets.

According to the Mexico country report released by Ecofys and Climate Analytics, the target of cutting emissions by 30% below business-as-usual in 2020 is not yet fully supported by policies. The analysis is part of an ongoing investigation by the Climate Action Tracker (CAT),  as to whether current or pledged climate action will be enough limit the negative effects of climate change by holding global temperature increase below 2°C.
