Climate Action Tracker - Country Report Australia

Published: 29/11/2011

Australia’s latest climate legislation is a substantial step in the right direction, but is still not stringent enough to help the world keep global warming to below 2°C, according to this report by Climate Analytics and Ecofys.

The 150-page analysis is part of an ongoing investigation by the Climate Action Tracker (CAT), a joint project by Climate Analytics, Ecofys and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. The study shows whether current or pledged climate action will be enough to limit the negative effects of climate change by holding long term global temperature increase below 2°C. It examines all sectors: electricity, industry, transport, agriculture, forestry and buildings and compares action against the CAT’s own long term low-carbon vision.
