There is an increasing activity on Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). Currently, 58 NAMAs are registered in the UNFCCC NAMA Registry, not including the four unilateral NAMAs that are seeking recognition. The NAMA Database counts a total of 118 NAMAs across all sectors and all parts of the world. Seven NAMAs are under implementation, while the majority is under development. There may well be many more in preparation.

This edition of the Annual NAMA Status Report provides input for the progress required in the coming year. After providing a snapshot of the current state of play, the report highlights the most pressing issues on defining, financing, monitoring, and operationalising NAMAs. The final section consists of ten opinion pieces by leading experts on the questions, ‘What role can NAMAs play in a post-2020 climate regime?’, with answers from a variety of topical angles.
