Supporting German Ministry for Economic Affairs in G20 presidency

Ecofys is advising the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in the preparation and implementation of the Energy Sustainability Working Group under the German G20 presidency 2017. In this context, the Ecofys experts supported the scientific steering of a milestone study prepared by the IEA and IRENA titled “Perspectives for the Energy Transition – Investment Needs for a Low-Carbon Energy System”. This included advice on the potential contribution of several sectors and elements to a global sustainable energy supply.

In addition, Ecofys develops options for international initiatives and activities for the G20 forum. The team also supports the design, preparation and implementation of high-level public servant meetings and expert workshops to prepare energy-related agreements of the G20 process. In this project, Ecofys is supported by the gas market experts Prof. Goldthau (GPPi) and Prof. Hafner (IEC), ewi ER&S and MicroEnergy International.
