Setting Science-based Targets in the Transport Sector

The Science Based Targets initiative of CDP, UN Global Compact, WRI and WWF started a process to refine the leading Sectoral Decarbonization Approach for the transport sector. Ecofys, a Navigant company, is the technical advisor supporting WWF in refining this methodology.

The Science Based Targets initiative is the leading platform for corporate climate target setting. Over 300 international companies from different economic sectors have already committed to the initiative and are battling climate change. The refined methodology allows companies to set their climate targets in line with climate science and make a fair contribution to limiting global warming in order to meet the Paris Agreement.

Our work will enable car and truck manufacturers, automotive suppliers, logistics service providers and shippers to set targets that are tailored to the activities and growth projections of their company. The project is carried out in close cooperation with the private sector including e.g. Daimler, BMW, Volvo Trucks, Deutsche Post DHL and Michelin.

Ecofys has supported over 40 companies across sectors in setting science-based targets. Learn more.
