Low Carbon Growth Study for Kosovo

For the Kosovan Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Ecofys has performed a major study in which we assisted the ministry with formulating a low-carbon growth strategy. The project, funded through the World Bank, focused on the identification and quantification of a set of measures that are most relevant in mitigating the emissions of greenhouse gases and set Kosovo on a track towards increased energy efficiency and rising shares of renewable energy.

Based on detailed assessments of the costs and emissions reduction potential of the set of measures, Ecofys developed a Marginal Abatement Cost Curve (MACC) that will assist policy-makers in identifying the optimal mix of abatement measures and to design adequate policies. Moreover, Ecofys supported the ministry to formulate a growth strategy that will assist the country to continue its economic development, whilst also complying with requirements from the European Union.
