Impact of the private sector in closing the emissions gap

As part of a project for the German government, Ecofys and the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) have researched the impact of a small group of private-sector cooperative initiatives in helping to reduce emissions.

The project has delivered a series of five case studies including a coherent analysis of the initiatives’ current and potential future emission reductions, as well as analysing barriers to, and opportunities for, scaling up their impact. The investigated initiatives are:

The research actively builds on engagement with stakeholders like governments, experts and funders through a series of interviews and roundtables to remove barriers, showcase the potential for supporting promising initiatives, and identify potential gaps where new initiatives could be seeded.
