Evaluation of German e-mobility funding scheme

Within the e-mobility programme of the German government all projects that received subsidies or funding are to be evaluated by independent experts. Ecofys was contracted to evaluate the e-mobility funding scheme. The evaluation will focus on the overall programme design, outcomes of the funded projects concerning the e-mobility technological development, transfer rate of integrating electric vehicles into the German transport system and the market rollout. The evaluation is based on an online survey as well as interviews with relevant stakeholders and funding recipients. E-mobility projects that received funding typically deal with technical engine developments, batteries and charging, grid integration and user aspects in passenger and commercial transport.

This project is an extended follow up of the evaluation of the project “evaluation of fleet tests e-mobility” for the German Ministry of Environment in 2011. The outcome of the project will allow the German Ministry to assess the effectiveness of the funding scheme and improve their future policy for stimulating e-mobility.
