Electrical Infrastructure Luchterduinen Wind Farm

The Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm will be built 23 kilometres off the coast of Noordwijk and Zandvoort. The wind farm will consist of 43 wind turbines with a collective power of 129 MW and will produce energy for about 150.000 households per year. Ecofys supports Eneco Luchterduinen in developing and managing the construction of the electrical infrastructure for the project. Ecofys has the role of Electrical Package Manager, being responsible for the overall design and realisation of the grid connection infrastructure, both offshore and onshore:

  • Grid connection: At the substation Sassenheim of TenneT (TSO) the electrical energy of the wind farm will be fed into the national HV grid.
  • The export cable will transmit the electrical energy of the wind farm at a voltage level of 150kV from offshore (25 km) to onshore (8 km).
  • The Offshore High Voltage Substation gathers all generated electricity and transforms the voltage from the turbines at 33kV to 150kV for transmission over the export cable to shore.
  • 43 infield cables will connect all the wind turbines within the wind farm. In total 6 strings will interconnect all turbines and connect them to the Offshore High Voltage Substation.

Ecofys is managing the detailed design process, performing quality inspections for the fabrication of the various components of the electrical infrastructure and will manage part of the installation works on site. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2015.
