Bioport Holland for Aviation Biofuel

The Netherlands have a unique opportunity to develop and deploy bio jet fuels, because of logistic advantages, a strong position in the current fossil kerosene market and a national airline and airport both being in the European top five. The key Dutch stakeholders are eager to pioneer in the development of a bio jet fuel market.

The joint ambition is to foster an increasing production and commercial use of bio jet fuel, which will position the Netherlands in the heart of the emerging European bio jet fuel market. Assigned by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, Ecofys supported the key stakeholders in the process towards setting ambitions and defining individual efforts in a Letter of Intent.  Together with NLR, Ecofys provided the industry and government representatives with up to date insights and guided the process through workshops, interviews and consultations.

The Letter of Intent was signed during the Innovatie Estafette on 12 November 2013 by State Secretary Mansveld (Infrastructure and the Environment), Minister Kamp (Economic Affairs), Eurlings (KLM), Nijhuis (Schiphol Group), Leenders (Neste Oil), Smits (Havenbedrijf Rotterdam) and Kronemeijer (SkyNRG).
