Ecofys releases mid-year update of 2017 Status Report on NAMAs

Published: 15/05/2017

The 2017 mid-year update of the Status Report on Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) by Ecofys, a Navigant company, and ECN was launched at the Bonn Climate Change Conference last Friday.

Since the last report, launched at the 2016 Conference of the Parties (COP) in Marrakesh, the number of NAMAs continues to grow, showing potential relevance in country’s climate strategies. Nevertheless, the number of NAMAs under implementation is far behind the number under development. It seems that the challenges in securing funding have not been resolved yet.

In this report, the experts analyse the disparities in the number of NAMAs under development and under implementation through an assessment of the roles of different actors in the NAMA development and delivery process. The report focuses on approaches and financing mechanisms to involve the private sector in the development of NAMAs.
