Ecofys, a Navigant company, supports launch of EU Energy Poverty Observatory

Published: 29/01/2018

Today, Miguel Arias Cañete, European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, has launched the EU Energy Poverty Observatory. The Observatory is part of the EU’s efforts to address energy poverty in European countries. The platform will provide a user-friendly and open-access resource that will disseminate information and good practice, to facilitate knowledge sharing among stakeholders and inform decision making at local, national and EU level.

Ecofys, a Navigant company, is part of the consortium that developed the Observatory. Our energy experts particularly contributed to the information on policies, publications and relevant organisations. Led by the University of Manchester, other consortium members include National Energy Action, the European Policy Centre, Intrasoft International, and the Wuppertal Institute.

More than 50 million households in the European Union are struggling to attain adequate warmth, pay their utility bills on time and live in homes free of damp and mould. The Energy Poverty Observatory aims to engender transformational change in knowledge about the extent of energy poverty in Europe, as well as innovative policies and practices to address it.
