Tom Berg (MSc) is a Consultant in the field of energy policies who has worked for Ecofys in London and is now based in Utrecht. Within Ecofys, he focuses mostly on the analysis of European energy and climate policy and strategies for emissions reduction. Recent examples of Tom's activities include his work as part of the Climate Action Tracker team, where he was involved in the development of sectoral decarbonisation scenarios for countries, and a study for the UK Committee on Climate Change where Ecofys developed indicators to track the deployment of greenhouse gas removal options in the UK. Within his work at Ecofys, Tom also wrote his master thesis on the deployment of Bio-CCS in the EU, focusing on the deployment barriers that exist and the policies required to mitigate them to be in line with a 2˚C pathway. Prior to joining Ecofys, Tom obtained a bachelor’s degree at the Free University of Amsterdam where he studied Earth Sciences & Economics with a minor in GIS. He completed his master’s in the field of Sustainable Development at Utrecht University, where he specialised in Energy & Material Systems. Besides his native language Dutch, he also speaks English and Portuguese.
