(Senior) Consultant Bioenergy

Thermo-chemical Conversion Technology Specialist

The position

  • Provide consultancy services to industry, project developers, governments and NGO´s.
  • Focus areas in the field of bioenergy are primarely:
    • All thermal conversion technologies, like combustion, co-firing, gasification, pyrolysis, torrefaction, etc
    • electricity and/or heat generation (CHP)
    • biofuels, including second generation technology developments
    • anaerobic digestion and/or biogas
    • biomass supply chain sustainability
  • Key activities include conceptual development, technology selection, technology assessment, feasibility studies, project development support and guiding planning permission applications.
  • You will be expected to generate sales leads via your knowledge of the (bio-) energy market and existing contact network and write proposals to secure new consulting contracts
  • Supporting non-bioenergy colleagues on policy, strategy and technical work related to biomass/bioenergy.

Your profile

Essential Knowledge/experience

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience in bioenergy related work.
  • A thorough understanding of the renewable energy and climate change policy and legislation.
  • Experience related to all thermal conversion technologies/ electricity production / heat production and/or CHP is essential.
  • A comprehensive understanding and experienced in the legislative requirements and planning permission procedures for building new sustainable energy facilities.
  • Experience conducting feasibility studies and/or preparing/evaluating applications to finance projects/businesses.
  • Good knowledge of the various companies and other organizations involved in the energy industry.
  • A well established contact network in the (bio-) energy field.

Desirable knowledge/experience

  • A professional background in an energy and/or waste sector, oil or gas industry, agro-industry, forestry, agriculture, wood processing or paper industry will be an advantage.
  • Experience with planning procedures.
  • Ideally you will bring professional knowledge on sustainability topics related to biomass

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business, science, engineering, or equivalent subject
  • Masters degree, MBA, PhD would be beneficial

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written command of English
  • Strong commercial attitude and entrepreneurial skills in identifying and seizing opportunities in a competitive market place
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluency/Proficiency in another language would be highly beneficial.
