Exploring comparable post-2012 reduction efforts

EU climate targets substantial emission reductions for developed countries are obligatory

The study assesses different approaches to turn emission reducing efforts of different countries (Annex I) comparable. The emission reducing targets and costs are very different for the Annex I countries. In order to achieve the EU climate target of 2°C the EU has to reduce its emissions by 30%. In addition other developed countries must commit themselves to emission reductions by 15 – 30% and economically more advanced developing countries must also contribute proportionally in accordance to their responsibilities and respective capabilities.
