Kees van der Leun (1960) graduated from Utrecht University with an MSc in Physics in 1986. He joined Ecofys as its third employee and was involved in the management of the company ever since. He led Ecofys’ solar energy activities and initiated major project and product development. In 2000 these new activities grew into a holding company on the board of which Kees van der Leun led a large international turnkey PV system supplier and a carbon credit originator. Since 2010 Kees van der Leun has been the COO of Ecofys with a keen interest in deploying the full value of the wide range of expertise available in the company. He was also project director of The Energy Report: a thorough and  visionary global scenario showing how the world can reach 100 per cent  renewable energy by 2050. Kees van der Leun is a relentless ‘infovore’, an avid cycler and occasional bird-watcher.
