Karlien Wouters MSc joined Ecofys in 2014. Her key areas or expertise include quantitative climate policy analysis and life cycle analysis (LCA). Since July 2014, Karlien is part of the Climate Action Tracker team. In this project she quantifies the greenhouse gas emission abatement pledges and policies of several countries. In the cost & subsidies of EU energy project, she analysed the external costs of EU energy generation. Karlien graduated cum laude in Energy Science (Utrecht University) and holds a bachelor’s degree in Science and Innovation Management (Utrecht University). During an internship at Ecofys, she wrote her master thesis on the impact of existing large-scale bottom-up initiatives for greenhouse gas emission mitigation in 2020. During an internship at TNO, she performed a life cycle analysis for two types of electricity generation with carbon capture and storage.
