Fabian Wigand is a Managing Consultant with Ecofys in Berlin. His expertise includes renewable energy policy, particularly auction schemes, in Germany, the EU and emerging economies and electricity markets and regulation. He is co-lead of the key account team for Government clients, matching the needs of government clients to Ecofys’ expertise. He is leading a consulting project on renewable energy auctions as part of the reform of the German Renewable Energy Act and advises the German G20 presidency on the investment shift for the energy transition, both for the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. He has consulted a number of public and private clients on the design and participation in renewable energy auctions and also advises the European Commission on the EU renewable energy framework. He also advised the German government on energy security in its G7 presidency. Previously, Fabian Wigand worked as Senior Analyst Regulation and Markets for the Desertec Industrial Initiative (Dii), an international initiative for renewable energy in North Africa and the Middle East. At Dii he advised local governments, international organisations and industry on energy policy, markets, project finance and regulation. Fabian Wigand was a Global Energy Governance Fellow at the Bosch Global Governance Futures project focusing on energy scenarios. He was a researcher on management practices at a joint project of the London School of Economics and Stanford University and holds a master’s in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics.
