Fabian Wigand

Fabian Wigand is a Senior Consultant with Ecofys in Berlin. His expertise includes renewable energy policy, particularly auction schemes, in Germany, the EU and emerging economies and electricity markets and regulation. He is leading a consulting project on renewable energy auctions as part of the reform of the German Renewable Energy Act and works on energy security for the preparation of the German G7 presidency, both for the German Ministry of Economics. He also consults the European Commission on the EU renewable energy framework. Previously, Fabian Wigand worked as Senior Analyst Regulation and Markets for the Desertec Industrial Initiative (Dii), an international initiative for renewable energy in North Africa and the Middle East. At Dii he advised local governments, international organisations and industry on energy policy, markets, project finance and regulation.  Fabian Wigand is also a Global Energy Governance 2022 Fellow at the Global Governance Futures project focusing on energy scenarios. He was a researcher on management practices at a joint project of the London School of Economics and Stanford University and holds a master’s in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics.
