Corinna Klessmann

Corinna Klessmann (PhD, M.Eng., M.A.) is an Associate Director at Ecofys. She is a leading international expert on renewable energy policy and coordinates this knowledge area within Ecofys. She has carried out numerous consulting assignments on support policies, financing instruments and market frameworks for renewable energy, e.g. for the European Commission, the German Ministry for the Environment, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), GIZ, AFD, and many international associations, companies and NGOs. Her main geographical focus area is Europe. She also has some work experience in the US, the MENA region, the Gulf countries and in Sub-Saharan Africa.

After completing her energy engineering (MEng) and philology (MA) studies, she worked as project assistant for a rural electrification project in South Africa and as research associate for decentralised energy applications at the Technical University of Berlin. Before she joined Ecofys in 2006, she worked for three years at the German Energy Agency (dena) where she coordinated the dialogue with the German solar industry, supervised international market studies on renewable energies, participated in international conferences and workshops in more than 20 countries, and managed the EU funded project “PV Policy Group”. Next to her work at Ecofys she obtained a doctorate from Utrecht University. The topic of her PhD thesis was “Increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of renewable energy support policies in the European Union".
