Within Ecofys, the department “Power Systems and Markets”, primarily located in Berlin, focuses on the specific challenges related to integration of renewable energy in electric power systems and markets. Our interdisciplinary expert team consists of power system engineers, economists and market specialists with extensive international experience. In our projects we deal with technical, regulatory and commercial issues related to sustainable electricity supply in a changing environment. In our studies we examine issues related to the integration of high shares of renewables in power systems and new concepts such as storage, smartgrids and supergrids.

Consultant Power Systems and Markets
The position
As a consultant you will be working in projects for public and private clients. You will be involved in simulation studies of power systems, the design of policy guidelines for governments and NGOs that refer to electricity market design and the implementation of regulatory measures to support the transition to a sustainable energy system. Using these activities, you will expand your existing networks among government officials, NGO and utility companies, which will eventually lead to new assignments. You will be part of an enthusiastic, dynamic team based in Berlin.
Your profile
Ideally you have a university degree in engineering and/or economics and a focus on energy economics. Additionally we expect a few years of work experience in the utility industry, preferably market analysis or power trading. Alternatively we welcome candidates with a university career and completed Ph.D. in the field of electricity market design. You show initiative, are proactive in making contacts, communicate well and you’re a reliable project manager. You have excellent analytical skills and you’re able to carry out independent research assignments related to the field of electricity market design. Finally, you have excellent presentation and writing skills in German and English.
