Utrecht, 6 June – Ecofys, part of sustainable energy company Econcern, is announced winner of the Erasmus Innovation Award. The award was won during the INSCOPE “Research for Innovation” congress in Rotterdam.

Chairman of the judging panel Prof.dr. Rinnooy Kan: "Ecofys is the most innovative and competitive organization of 2008. Ecofys was able to increase the productivity of the innovative process by being creative, having team spirit and an excellent coordination of its product development. Innovation is in the genes of the organization."

Kornelis Blok, managing director Ecofys: "We at Ecofys believe that innovation is the addition of the ability to develop innovative techniques plus the power to successfully introduce the innovation in the market. For us innovation means daring: we just do it. Take for example an Ecofys innovation as the closed greenhouse that is now commercialized as GeslotenKas® by Innogrow (www.innogrow.com), an Econcern company. Also the Solior, a hot water system with high efficiency combined with a contemporary design, is developed by Ecofys and commercialized by Solior bv (www.solior.com), another Econcern company"

Ecofys was one of the five nominated organizations for the esteemed Erasmus Innovation Award. Their selection was made on the basis of an annual survey involving 10,000 Dutch companies. Each year, this survey turns the spotlight on several subjects. This time around, the focus is very much on innovative leadership, management innovation and networking. cofys was picked by a judging panel comprising Prof.dr. Rinnooy Kan (Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands), Mr. Hermans (Dutch SME Federation), Ms. Bergkamp (Ministry of Economic Affairs) and Prof.dr. Fisher (Netherlands Centre for Social Innovation).
