Last Saturday, after several competition rounds, Ad van Wijk has been named ‘Master Entrepreneur of the Year 2007’ in the Dutch national edition of one of the world’s most prestigious awards in entrepreneurship “Entrepreneur of the Year”. Ernst & Young established the award to recognize the significant accomplishments of entrepreneurs around the world. As national winner, Ad will join 36 other national winners to compete for the World Entrepreneur of the Year crown in Monte Carlo in 2008.

The jury selected Ad as winner from a field of strong candidates. The jury report for the Master Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 Award: “Ad van Wijk managed to convince the jury by expressing his vision to make remarkable innovations profitable in a very successful way. The risk he took in a time when it was not yet clear if the chosen path towards sustainable energy would be a hype, makes him a true entrepreneur. The jury has no doubt that Ad van Wijk, with his leadership and excellent know-how, will lead this company in expansion as one of the leading sustainable energy companies in the world. Ad van Wijk demonstrates that the combination of scientist and entrepreneur can be an excellent one and has most deservedly been named ‘Master Entrepreneur of the Year 2007.”
