New Ecofys office in Rome: “2008 key year for energy in Italy”

Ecofys, the leading knowledge and innovation company on sustainable energy opened a second Italian office in Rome. After opening their first office in Turin in 2005, the new Rome office will enable Ecofys to deliver sustainable energy solutions directly to Italy’s national policy makers and large Rome based companies and institutions.

“The year 2008 and further will be key years for the Italian energy position in Europe and the world. Incentives in the 2008 public spending budget (Finanzaria) are indicating a serious commitment to stimulate energy efficiency and renewable energy and to fight climate change. Also the industrial plan “Industrial 2015” offers many opportunities for Italian entities that aim to contribute to energy efficiency and the fight against climate change”, says Joris Benninga, Managing Director of Ecofys Italy.

A recent Ecofys report made for the European Insulation Manufactures Association (Eurima) and Fabbriche Isolanti Vetro Roccia Associate (Fivra) showed that with stricter insulation standards Italy – as well as Europe as a whole – would achieve maximum economic benefits while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Ecofys demonstrates energy efficiency measures to be profitable investments that also lower costs, increase security of supply and create Italian jobs.

Ecofys is a leading player on the European sustainable energy market. Core competence of Ecofys is to chip away barriers to implementing sustainable energy solutions both on a policy and technology level. Ecofys’ knowledge, services and solutions comprise the full scope from research to implementation and operations. Joris Benninga: “The Italian economy is one of the leading economies in Europe and it’s specifically vulnerable to volatilities in the international energy market. This fact shows a big opportunity for Italy to become one of the change leaders in Europe in this field. We see that private investors and the banking sector are responding to signals that a serious transition in the energy sector is needed. Ecofys has a lot of experience to help decision makers in all sort of organisations make the optimal choices. Many of these are based in Rome. Therefore we have opened our second Italian office in Rome.”
