Ecofys launches service desk for saving electricity
The Enlightened Living Service Desk was developed by Ecofys for local authorities in the Leiden region of the Netherlands. This unique service provides information on power-saving products and sales outlets. Citizens in the participating cities can select a personalized ‘energy box’ of products which will help them save electricity in the home.
Top 7 power-saving products
The on-line Service Desk presents information on electricity-saving products in the form of a Top 7: dimmable energy-saving light bulbs, LED lighting, a device for switching off equipment left in stand-by mode, green electricity, LCD screens, energy efficient electrical devices and energy meters. The Service Desk, which cooperates with ten suppliers, also provides details of where these products can be bought.
Saving on electricity
Since 1995 the use of electricity by households in the Netherlands has increased by a fifth. The main objective of the Enlightened Living Service Desk is to encourage people to reduce their electricity consumption. For the next few years, Ecofys will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Service Desk.
