The sustainable energy services and innovation company Ecofys is pleased to announce that it has agreed to acquire Azure International, a market leader and pioneer for commercial development of sustainable energy in China. The company, to be named EcofysAzure in China, will be well positioned to deliver on China’s great sustainable energy ambitions, providing specialized solutions to developers, government and the industry.

Ecofys, part of the Econcern group, has a mission: a sustainable energy supply for everyone, and was founded in 1984. Azure International, founded in China in 2003, is a specialized knowledge and investment firm focused on the rapidly growing market for sustainable technologies in China. The two companies have been working closely together for more than two years on Clean Development Mechanism projects, in order to reduce carbon emission in developing countries. And more recently on Energy Strategy consulting projects, where the Chinese government was advised about their energy strategy. EcofysAzure, will combine Ecofys’ extensive expertise and track record in European markets and Azure’s track record and local expertise in the Chinese sustainable energy market.

“Vice chairman of the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission, Chen Deming, recently stated that China needs $265 billion in investments and that they’ll most likely need to be coming from the private sector to meet the renewable energy goals by 2020. With our joined forces we believe we can truly contribute to meeting these goals”, says Chris Raczkowski, Managing Director of Azure International.
