Carbon Credits Development (CDM)
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) proposed under Article 12 of the Kyoto Protocol is an important instrument that promotes greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction projects in developing countries. If these reductions are accepted by the UNFCCC, the project is eligible for creating Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), which can be sold in the carbon market. Given the many complex legal, financial and technical issues surrounding CDM, there are compelling reasons for working with an experienced partner in this field.

Why Ecofys:

  • We offer a complete service package that covers all the steps needed to make an emission reduction project programme into a valuable CDM project.
  • We share risks with our clients, offering our services on a no-cure-no-pay basis, without any advance charges. We are not a broker - we assist with project development, helping you to achieve the best market price for your carbon credits.
  • We take an integral project approach. We do not see the CDM as the final objective, but rather as a promising tool that makes emission reduction more attractive. Together with the local project developer, we determine the best way to use the CDM instrument in order to maximize benfits for you and the environment.
  • Ecofys has outstanding technical knowledge of CDM procedures and considerable experience of implementing sustainable energy projects. As we provided baseline methodology expert reviewers for the UNFCCC, we are in an excellent position to formulate Project Design Documents (PDDs) that are fully compatible with the UNFCCC requirements.
  • With specialist expertise in biomass, wind and solar energy, Ecofys has broad experience in the field of renewable energy. We also have excellent relationships with technology providers and work closely with local partners.
