The deregulation of energy markets, rising energy prices, increasing demands for renewable energy and the threat of climate change are just some of the changes that face companies and public organizations alike.
 |
In addition to new challenges, these changes also give rise to new opportunities: changes in energy and carbon markets offer possibilities for new products and services, while public awareness can lead to a competitive advantage for ‘green’ or e.g. ‘carbon-neutral companies. In such a complex environment an integral approach is essential to arrive at an optimal strategy. Governments (and NGOs) have to deal with many different actors as well as synergies and antagonisms in a range of policy areas. |
They need to be aware of the impacts on different stakeholders in order to judge the feasibility of their positions and create support for successful implementation of their plans. Each party involved – whether these are public entities defining future developments or companies coping with new constraints and opportunities – needs to make sure that the issues are well understood at all levels and that the strategy deals with the most relevant of the interests at stake.
For over 20 years, we have helped corporate, governmental and non-governmental clients as well as the European Commission define the steps needed to tackle energy-related issues, more recently including climate change. Our experts have extensive insight and experience in the complexities facing companies, in this field and have worked with customers ranging from small companies to large multinationals and utilities, helping them define their strategy. This experience has, in turn, been invaluable in helping our public sector clients to formulate better strategies for achieving energy and climate change objectives.
