G8 Climate Scorecards
On 1 July, WWF and Allianz SE released the 2009 G8 Climate Scorecards. This Ecofys report shows which country is leading in climate protection and it reflects what actions the countries have taken so far to prevent dangerous climate change. The scorecards are meant to stimulate discussions at the G8 summit at the beginning of July in Italy, setting the course for Copenhagen. For the WWF press release, clicke here.

EU climate policy impact in 2020
June 2009 - An economic recession of two years or longer will considerably decrease the effectiveness of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) in stimulating low-carbon technologies. In order to meet EU climate targets in the longer term, new governmental policies will be needed to compensate for this. This is the key finding of the EU policy impact study Ecofys did for the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL).

Ecofys finds new shareholder in Eneco
Utrecht, 17 June 2009 – This week Ecofys reached an agreement with Eneco to take over Ecofys Netherlands, Ecofys Germany and Ecofys UK. This agreement secures the future of large parts of our company and allows us to continue our business.
Ecofys will continue to provide independent advice and build on its international reputation in research and consultancy in the areas of energy saving and sustainable energy. To safeguard our independence, Ecofys is positioned at arm’s length from Eneco. This will be institutionalized with a public statute document.

City of Amsterdam Renewable Energy Development Company
May 2009 - A recent Ecofys report, assigned by the City of Amsterdam, has inspired Amsterdam to consider establishing a new energy company, in order to boost the local production of renewable energy. On the 19th of May the Mayor and aldermen of Amsterdam decided to further investigate the feasibility of such an energy company. For more information, click here.
